M. Tech. Project (Guide: Prof.  Vivek Agrawal, IIT Bombay, Fellow IEEE)

Topic: Study and improvement of single-phase grid-connected systems [Funded by Tata Centre for Technology and Design (TCTD)]

Design and Development of a Low Cost, Rugged Solar PV Microinverter for Rural Application

  • Analyzed, designed and simulated relevant topologies and the control methods for microinverters

  • Proposed a suitable topology for single phase grid connected microinverter based on parallel-input series-output interleaved flyback converter and a control method (combination of hybrid PWM strategy and ZVS) for improving the weighted efficiency

  • Proposed a control method (combination of hybrid BCM/DCM and 1-phase/2-phase operating modes) for improving the efficiency parallel input parallel output interleaved flyback converter based microinverter

  • Proposed a method to enable efficient leakage energy recovery and  active power decoupling

  • Proposed a suitable topology for microinverter in a standalone application with battery backup

  • Designed the transformers, filter, snubber, controllers, and gate driver circuits etc. for the proposed topology

  • Implemented voltage and current sensing (ADC), PWM pulse generation (EPWM and GPIO) and the overall control (MPPT and grid current control) of microinverter using the TMS320F28069 microcontroller

  • Fabricated a hardware prototype of the proposed grid connected microinverter and tested it up to 100 W

Design and Fabrication of Power Electronic Controllers for Certain Home Appliance Motors [in collaboration with Prof. James L. Kirtley Jr. and his research group associated with TCTD, MIT]

  • Proposed two highly efficient high gain converter based circuits for power factor correction

  • Simulated the speed control of induction machine along with the PFC and inverter

Transformerless and leakage current less single phase solar Photovoltaic inverter systems

  • Proposed single-switch topologies and their control of transformerless inverter based on the integrated Cuk-Sepic converter and integrated Zeta-Buck-Boost converter

  • Analyzed, modeled and simulated of the proposed inverters for validating the working
